Our exclusive video guides
Automasters Driving School have commissioned a series of video guides to help you look after your vehicle, to ensure that you drive safely, and to prepare for that all-important test.
You’ll find a range of videos on this page which will keep you up-to-date with changes to booking and preparing for your Driving Test, and to looking after your vehicle.
Keep your eyes on this page because we will regularly be adding new videos covering general car care, preparation for your test, what happens during the test and more. There will also be a range of videos covering the route maps for each of the test centres covered by AutoMasters.
Adjustments to your Driving Test
Major UK driving test changes for 2026 focus on booking reforms, requiring learners to book their own tests and limiting rescheduling to twice, with nearby centre changes only; and theory test updates, adding CPR/defibrillator questions to boost cardiac survival.
A consultation is also underway for a mandatory 3-6 month learning period after passing the theory test, aiming to reduce accidents and test centre backlogs by ensuring readiness.
These videos, produced exclusively for Automasters, will give you an insight into the key changes to the rules regarding Driving Test bookings.
Show me, tell me… Safe driving for life!
These exclusive Automasters videos will help you to ensure that you and your passengers are safe during every journey, courtesy of good habits and a number of simple checks.
Your instructor will help you to check your brakes, tyre pressures and treads, headlights and tail lights, and direction indicators. Simple but essential advice such as where to find your windscreen washers and demisters, dashboard warning lights, your horn and the position of your headrests (it’s more important than you might think!).
And, in order to ensure that your car is completely safe and will run more smoothly (and not break down!) we’ll show you how to check oil levels, coolant and brake fluid etc.
Automasters… at your service!
Preparation for your Driving Test
These exclusive videos will help you to get ready for your driving test, so that you’ll arrive fully prepared and ready to undertake 40 minutes that can change your life much for the better.
There are some seemingly obvious prerequisites such as remembering to bring your Driving Licence and (if you are using your own car) making sure the car is Taxed, MOTed and has L plates on the front and back.
Before the test itself, you’ll be asked to read a registration plate from a distance, and during the test itself various more exacting challenges such as identifying road signs, observing speed limits and a range of driving manoeuvres.
To fully prepare, why not ask your instructor for a mock examination of the test area.
